AMD FSR3 may not make it to PlayStation 5

In Gamescom 2023along with the launch of the RX 7800 XT and 7700 XT cards, which will probably kill off the 8 GB and 16 GB RTX 4060 Ti cards from Nvidia, a AMD finally offered an update on its long-awaited graphics technology FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) for games.

It is based on the new Fluid Motions Frame (FMF) technology from AMD. O AMD FSR 3 will be added to at least two PC games at the beginning of September, but the company claims that in just a few months thousands of games will support the technology.

During the live broadcast of Gamescom of AMD, the company's head of games marketing, Frank Azorsaid that the Forspoken, from Square Enix. And, the recently launched magic-themed first-person shooter from EA, Immortals of Aveumwill receive patches in a few weeks that will enable support for FSR 3.

This means that these games should receive large increases in frame rate thanks to the use of frame generation technology from AMD. Which it calls Fluid Motion Frames. In fact, the company claims that by using the FSR 3 in ForspokenThe 4K frame rates have risen from 36 fps to 122 fps.

AMD FSR3

The AMD FSR3 looks incredible, but it may not make it to the PlayStation 5

Support for AMD FSR 3 will be added to several other games in the very near future. This includes the next CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.

In addition, the Unreal Engine from Epic Games will add a plug-in for FSR 3This means that tons of game developers who use this engine will be able to support this technology.

O FSR 3 should run well on AMD's Radeon RX 6000 and 7000 graphics cards, and even on some older cards too (indicating support for the RX 5000 series and perhaps even RX 400/500 support). A AMD says it will also work with consoles Xbox of Microsoftwhich use GPUs AMD Radeon personalized. But the PlayStation 5 of Sony was not mentioned.

However, AMD had a little surprise. It announced that the FSR 3 team is working on a way to allow the technology to work in any game DirectX 11 or 12. Which means, in theory, that thousands of titles will soon be able to get big increases in frame rate. This update will arrive sometime in the first quarter of 2024.

The company is also the official GPU and CPU of the eagerly awaited game Starfield of Bethesda Softworks. Although it didn't comment on specific frame rates for this game, the company did say that it would run very well on the hardware of the AMD.
