Announced in 2008, Beyond Good & Evil 2 has been missing for quite some time, having last appeared in December 2018, with numerous gameplay details and more. However, during all this time with no news, the Ubisoft confirmed a few times that: Yes, the game is still in development.

As a result, players were not only excited by the news that the project was still alive, but also wanted a taste of the project on the franchise's 20th anniversary.

On November 11, 2023, Beyond Good & Evil completed 20 years of its existence, and many waited for something new, but nothing happened. In fact, there was a leak in early 2024 of a remastered version of the game, which ended up disappearing for a few more months.

Now, on June 25th, Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition has finally been released, bringing numerous new features to the game's quality of life, making it more modern and accessible.

This review of the 20th Anniversary Edition of Beyond Good & Evil was only possible thanks to a review key sent by the team at Ubisoft Brazil.

After 20 years, it's still charming

It's difficult for a game that was released so long ago to remain at a high level in this day and age, but Beyond Good & Evil still does, and with mastery.

In Beyond Good & Evil you control Jade, where you must fight creatures with your daï-jo stick, infiltrate dangerous areas, solve puzzles and capture countless photos of your incredible journey.

A mysterious alien attack

As reporter Jade, you'll explore Hillys alongside your adoptive uncle Pey'j to investigate the mysterious alien attacks from DomZ.

At the same time, you'll be putting your skills to the test in a new speedrun mode, updated achievements, new rewards for exploring the game and, of course, a major improvement in game life.

Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition is the best way to enjoy the game

The new version of the game makes an already epic adventure even better. You'll find 4K resolution, reaching a framerate of 60fps, as well as improved graphics and controls.

The audio has also been updated and the game's soundtrack remastered. There's also autosave, cross-save and the option to advance cutscenes, something that wasn't available in the original game.

Is it worth playing Beyond Good & Evil in 2024?

Beyond Good & Evil is a very different game from most of the games you'll find on the market in 2024, especially when it comes to the Ubisoft.

It's a game that has an open world, but in a very linear model, and with a strong focus on the photography of your adventure, which is also quite different from what we're used to seeing.

If you've ever played BGE previously, this version is indispensable. The redesigned visuals, audio and controls make the experience even more fun and modern. Now, if you're a new player, I don't even need to tell you that Beyond Good & Evil is a classic that everyone who enjoys a good adventure needs to experience.

Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series e Nintendo Switch.
