Break Stuff VR is a game to take your stress away (in theory) - Review

break stuff vr

I never tire of talking about how satisfying virtual reality experiences are for me. I'm always looking for new games and in one of these searches, I came across Break Stuff VR. I'll tell you right now that this isn't going to be a very complex review because the game is simple, very simple.

Developed by Single Step Games, the game's slogan is "smash for cash", and this little phrase defines the game in its entirety.

But how does the game work?

Break Stuff VR has a stage structure, in which you play a stage until you acquire a certain amount of money to move on to another stage. And so the game goes on through various scenarios.

The way we destroy objects in the scenery is to throw other objects, such as fruit, balls, lamps, etc. Each object has a certain weight and this influences when you throw it. With the money you get from destroying other objects, you can buy more efficient items to destroy, but this also makes it take you longer to get through the stages, because you use the same money to buy them as you need to get through the stage.

Some aspects of the game...

One negative point I found right away is that the game is entirely in English, which is bad enough in itself. However, it gets even worse because the speech in the game has some distortion effects that make it a little difficult to understand, making it compulsory to read the subtitles to fully understand.

In terms of gameplay, you have to pick up items from the table and throw them at objects in the scenery in order to break them and acquire money. Then, in terms of control, you simply pick up the item and throw it, releasing it at the end. There's even a throwing mode where you just have to aim at the objects and press and release a button to throw.

When you finish a stage, you have access to a bonus stage, in which you have access to a baseball bat. With it, you can destroy objects with all your might. This bonus stage is the most fun part of the game, and unfortunately, the shortest too.

Is it worth it?

Well, in terms of visuals and sound, the game is very simple, with very simple models, very simple scenery, very simple sound effects, very simple visual effects, definitely everything very simple.

Destroying objects should be a pleasure, but in the end it isn't, far from it. And that's a bit of a disappointment, because the game could be more interesting if it were a bit more elaborate.

On the other hand, Break Stuff VR is very affordable, which is at least a positive point. And the best game mode is the least explored, unfortunately. In the end, I think the game could be more.
