The premise of Detroit: Become Human

Set in the year 2038, in the city of Detroit, Detroit: Become Human its premise is that technology has evolved to the point where there are androids everywhere, even taking over from humans in countless tasks at the service of themselves, humanoid androids.

With this, you will step into the shoes of three different androids: ConnorA detective programmed to solve cases involving divergent droids, also classified as rebels;

Kara, an android who works as a maid in the home of a humble family, also serving as a nanny;

And last but not least, Markus, an android assistant to a famous painter who needs care because of his health.

As the three droids, you will face moral dilemmas and make risky decisions, affecting lives, the future of Detroit and the fate of humanity. All this amidst dozens of possible endings, thousands of choices and an intense branching narrative.

The gameplay can enter a certain niche

Despite having a premise that could - and should - While the gameplay is extremely niche, it will appeal to many gamers who like a good story. In fact, this is the first time I've had contact with a game of this kind.

Unlike games where you have to press countless buttons, take care of your life or defeat bosses, everything works differently here. You control the three characters in the middle of the scenery, while everything happens in a well-choreographed and cinematic way.

You'll see actions on the screen to hold items, rotate them and more. Some of these actions need to be pressed in time, in the best quick time event style. This way, you end up feeling the pressure at any number of moments, and can even make the wrong choice and have a big impact on the lives of those you care about.

Destiny is literally in your hands

Although the choices are finite, there is a wide range of possibilities that mean that fate is literally in your hands. While a friend may have seen certain things happen in the game, you may have done something completely different. Especially considering that at the beginning you can choose the order in which certain things will happen.

You're basically shaping not just the story of your game, but a real Hollywood story. Whether it's a happy story, a sad story or a story of regrets. Just remember, nothing is lost in Detroit: Become Human as long as you are in control of your emotions.

The performance of Detroit: Become Human on current computers

Although the game was originally released for PlayStation 4we decided to play this version on PCThis is a slightly different experience, especially with the controller, which originally used the touch pad. DualShock for most stocks.

There is already a big negative point for pcistas: Detroit: Become Human is only locked at 60fps and cannot reach higher rates. Perhaps there is a modification that allows this, but we didn't look into it when we were playing. But if there is one positive point, it's its good optimization.

As for the game's visuals, which is something that fits in perfectly with this topic, we can say that they are simply brilliant. We saw famous actors such as Jesse Williams (Grey's Anatomy), Clancy Brown (Carnivale), Valorie Curry (Twilight) and many others are masterfully represented through facial capture.

Also highlighting the visuals are the expressions, which in moments of anger, sadness, happiness or the use of force in fights, are incredibly well represented, making you feel like you are in the shoes of each of the main droids.

Is Detroit: Become Human worth playing?

Perhaps for veterans of the genre, Detroit: Become Human may end up being just another game, which will vary according to each person's personal taste in narrative. Now, if it's for gamers who, like me, don't know much about the genre yet, it will have a completely different feel.

It's an experience that puts your nerves on edge, making you feel like you're really in the shoes of each of the characters through cinematic scenes, expressions, dialogues and events throughout the story that you have to choose yourself. Literally a test for the heart.

A game that is certainly indispensable for anyone who likes a dramatic story and something that is much discussed in current times: The rebellion of artificial intelligences.

Detroit: Become Human is available for PC, PS4 and PS5 (via backward compatibility).
