Digital Foundry makes detailed analysis between PS5 and PS5 Pro

Since the announcement of the PS5 Pro, many gamers have been skeptical about Sony's new premium console. Criticism focused on the initial presentation, where the graphical difference between the PS5 and PS5 Pro seemed minimal, coupled with the high price of 700 dollars and the absence of a disc player. Sony further complicated the comparison by showing gameplays in small windows, which, combined with YouTube's compression, made it even more difficult to perceive the visual improvements.

Sony comparison
Do they really want us to notice a difference like that?

Today, however, the channel specializing in technical analysis Digital Foundry offered a fairer comparison, using the game Final Fantasy VII Rebirth to demonstrate the true potential of the PS5 Pro. The title, which is one of the best examples of current generation gaming, was heavily criticized on the standard PS5 for presenting a blurry image in performance mode, while the graphics-focused mode offered greater visual quality but limited the game to 30 fps.

In the analysis of Digital FoundryThe PS5 Pro's upscaling technology, dubbed PSSR by Sony, brings a significant improvement in visual quality, especially in performance mode. The difference between the normal PS5 and the PS5 Pro is striking, with a clear advantage for the new console, which displays the game with much more clarity and detail.

Although Sony has promoted the PS5 Pro as a solution capable of eliminating the need to choose between performance and graphics quality in some games, there are still doubts as to whether all titles will be able to run at 4K and 60 fps consistently, as suggested.

Returning to the comparison of Digital FoundryEven in quality mode, when comparing the normal PS5 with the PS5 Pro, the graphic superiority of the new console is evident, with more detail and a significantly sharper image.
