How did it work before the update?

It used to be possible to share games with more than one family member/friend in the SteamBut there were some restrictions. Firstly, in order to share the games, the other player would need to enter your e-mail address and password on their computer.

This would cause the system to recognize access to the credentials and then display your games in its library. And if you were in a game and he also wanted to use something from your library, the Steam I wouldn't allow it.

If he was playing before you, after you opened a game he would be kicked out of the game within a few minutes.

Changes to Steam's family sharing

Now, sharing your games on Steam will work in a different and much more practical way. You can invite up to five other people to share the game, without having to give them your e-mail address or password. Simply add them to Steam.

Once everyone is in the same family, all players will see each other's games in the library in a tab called "Steam Family". The six players in total will be able to play different games at the same time, but they won't be able to use the same game. If you want to use the same game, you'll need to have more than one copy.

It's also worth noting that you'll now have your own saved games, earn your own achievements and have access to the workshop Steam and more, just like a game you've purchased.
