Mario's voice actor steps down as the character's official voice

Charles Martinet, known worldwide as the official voice of the Mario since the legendary Super Mario 64 will no longer dub the character.

The news came via the official Nintendo of America on X (Twitter)

Charles Martinet has been the original voice of Mario in Nintendo games for a long time, since Super Mario 64. Charles is now moving on to a new role as Mario Ambassador. With this transition, he will no longer voice characters in our games, but he will continue to travel the world sharing the joy of Mario and interacting with you!

It's been an honor to work with Charles in bringing Mario to life for so many years and we want to thank and celebrate him! Please keep an eye out for a special video message from Shigeru Miyamoto and Charles himself, which we'll post another day.

Ever since "Super Mario Bros. - The Movie" was announced, followed by confirmation that all the characters would be voiced by different actors, with Mario himself voiced in English by actor Chris Pratt, there was a certain amount of skepticism on the part of fans, but the film was a box-office success.

Now it remains to be seen who will be the new voice of the character, who already has a new game on the way for the Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo has already confirmed that Charles Martinet is not involved in the Super Mario Wonder.

My favorite games are visual novels.
