Contrary to what many people think, Overwatch did not inaugurate the hero shooter genre in 2016. On the contrary, the genre has been around for some time, either in an "official" form or by adopting some of the genre's strands.

In 2002, with Battlefield 1942we saw the debut of the "Classes", where each player would have their own role, such as healer, assault and so on. With Team Fortress Classic, which was released in 2003 after being detached from the 1999 Quake mod, further demonstrated what Hero Shooter could be in the future.

In 2007, with Team Fortress 2This is where the hero shooter genre really began to take shape, where you didn't choose a class for your character, but rather a character that contained that specific class.

On May 3, 2016, the first hero shooter game was released: Battleborn. The game of Gearboxthe same studio behind the Borderlands, was the first game to actually call itself a hero shooter, and curiously enough, a few days later, on May 24th, it was released Overwatch, the game that launched the Hero Shooter genre and still dominates the market today.

In addition to Deadlock, the new game from Valve which is under development, Marvel Rivals is one of the next games to enter the hero shooter category. Will NetEase has the guts to go head-to-head with Overwatch, Team Fortress 2 e Deadlock?

A hero shooter with the most sought-after heroes on the planet

Many games may have good gameplay, good scenery, a good soundtrack and much more, but there's always one thing that can end up turning players off: the characters.

Marvel Rivals has already arrived with both feet in the door with a magnificent cast of characters, and one that all gamers and especially fans of Marvel loved meeting them, as Iron Man, Spider-Man, Hulk, Thor, Venom, Doctor Strange and much more.

Perhaps this is a good attraction for Marvel RivalsThe characters already have their own histories, a guide to their abilities and, of course, countless visuals that can be found in comics, films and series.

The maps and game modes of Marvel Rivals

So far we have two game modes available for Marvel RivalsOne of these is the Convoy, where one team has to keep up with a moving load while the opposing team has to stop the load from moving forward.

The other mode is called Domination, where both teams need to capture points on the map, with the possibility of one team taking the other's point.

During the preview there were also two maps available, Yggsard and Tokyo 2099. The two maps had totally different aesthetics and many parts of their scenery were destructible, giving a different flow to the combats.

But remember, this is a preview of a beta, meaning that new characters, maps and modes can and should be added at launch or later.

The future of Marvel Rivals is exciting

I don't tend to play many games that are in BETA versions, largely because some experiences are different from the final game, others are even completely reworked, but with Marvel Rivals you can sense that's not what's going to happen.

Marvel Rivals already in the BETA version, it's a well-rounded game that has a lot to offer even with two game modes and maps, after all, there are a multitude of characters for you to explore, get to know and refine your gameplay. All this in conjunction with partnerships, where two characters can team up for a kind of ultimate ability.

As I understand it, expect to see Marvel Rivals countless times in the spotlight, receiving awards at events, getting on people's lips and, above all, taking part in championships.

Marvel Rivals, which launches on December 6 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series, is an excellent choice for those who like Hero Shooters and especially the iconic Marvel characters.
