Monster Hunter Wilds Introduces a New Area and Scary Enemies at Gamescom's Opening Night Live

Capcom entered uncharted territory during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024, revealing a new hunting area, enemies and more details of Monster Hunter Wilds™️. The latest screenshots of the eagerly awaited action RPG show the Scarlet Forest, and an arachnid monster known as Lala Barina, who patrols this lush forest. The publisher also presented the first details of the area's top predator and more information about exploration in the game, including how to confront gigantic enemies, hunt in groups even in single-player mode, and enjoy the unprecedented freedom of the Forbidden Lands.

The next evolution in the award-winning franchise  Monster Hunter™️ is scheduled for simultaneous worldwide release in 2025, on PlayStation®️5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, with support for crossplay.

  • New Hunting Area: The Scarlet Forest, the newly revealed area of the Forbidden Lands, is a lush setting with imposing vegetation that contrasts with the crimson-dyed waters. Like other ecosystems in Monster Hunter WildsThe Scarlet Forest is a dynamic environment that goes through periods of Famine, Inclemency and Fallow, which transform the landscape and wildlife of the place.
  • A New Monster: One creature that makes the Scarlet Forest its home is the Lala Barina. A member of the Temnoceran class - which makes rare appearances throughout the series, the Lala Barina has elongated, razor-sharp limbs and can open its chest like a gigantic blossoming rose, making it an equally beautiful and treacherous monster.
  • Predator Spotlight: Each region of Monster Hunter Wilds is ruled by an alpha predator. Leaving the Scarlet Forest for a moment and returning to the previously revealed Zephyr Plains, we have a monster known as Rey Dau, who reigns supreme over the region. First seen during the Summer Game Fest, the Flying Serpent was presented today in all its glory. This top predator of the Zephyr Plains is accustomed to the harsh conditions of the Sand Tides that transform the sandy prairie, and has mastered a force capable of unleashing destructive electrical attacks, posing a threat to even the most experienced hunters.
  • Support HuntersWhen playing alone or with friends online, Support Hunters can fill spaces in the player's hunting team. One of these NPCs is Olivia, a member of the Research Commission team investigating the Forbidden Lands who uses a hammer as a weapon. As well as being very useful, she will also play a crucial role in the story along with her elite Friend, Athos.
  • More MovementsIn addition to new allies, hunters will also be able to interact with their opponents in new ways. This includes Duel of Power, which can block certain attacks and activate a direct physical combat mode between the player and their enemy, and Inhibitor Attacks, which interrupt the monster's movement after a successful attack. Using these new abilities correctly can throw creatures off balance, creating critical openings or unleashing powerful special attacks.
  • Village of the Singing WindsThe latest trailer also introduced Kunafa, a settlement that hunters will visit on the Zephyr Plains. One of multiple communities within the Forbidden Lands, this village has existed for many generations and has its own culture. Shaped by its surroundings and the local wildlife, Kunafa raises animals for cheese production and is home to the Seikrets, the trusty mounts that hunters will have as indispensable companions when exploring the wilderness.
  • Fluid explorationWhen away from camp, hunters can embark on expeditions with various objectives in mind. Quests will be activated by targeting a monster in the area using your map or simply by initiating a confrontation with one of them in the field. Players will also be able to prepare for their next hunt without the need to return to base. You can increase your status with a meal from the portable grill and rest by taking a nap in Simple Camp. These bases of operation are convenient places to manage items and equipment, serve as a point of return after the hunter passes out, and become destinations in fast travel mode.
