Mortal Kombat 1 has a themed skin in honor of Brazilian funk

Mortal Kombat 1 Tanya Funkeira

The youtube channel Warner Bros. Games revealed today the new skin for the character Tanya, for Mortal Kombat 1, new game in the franchise. It's the first time a female character has received a Brazil-themed skin, which this time pays homage to funk culture with vibrant green and yellow colors tinting an outfit that exudes the musical style.

The themed skin is part of a long-standing partnership between the NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Games from Brazil, who have previously brought iconic and popular costumes to players such as Liu Kang Capoeirista, Johnny Cage soccer player and Kung Lao Gaúcho for Mortal Kombat X (2015) and Kano Kangaceiro for Mortal Kombat 11 (2019).

Like its predecessors, Tanya's new look seeks to represent Brazilian culture. In view of the relevance of funk to the country's music, the NetherRealm Studios brings this reinterpretation to the game.

Tanya funkeira is the Brazilian skin for Mortal Kombat 1

"There is a long history of collaboration between the Warner Bros. Games in Brazil and NetherRealm Studios to work on the Brazilian skins project, and this ended up becoming a tradition over time," comments Ismael Crivelli, Senior Manager for Games Strategy in Latin America at Warner Bros. Games.

"Just like the game, funk culture is disruptive, empowering and emblematic, and we believe it represents Brazil very well. That's why she was chosen to represent the country in Mortal Kombat 1. We're very happy with the final result of Tanya Funkeira and can't wait to see the community adopting the character in the game's online lobbies," he concludes.

For players wishing to use the Tanya Funkeira skin on the kombats, it will be available for digital purchases made directly from the official Brazilian PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, Nuuvem, Nintendo eShop and Epic Games Store.

Both versions include the pre-order DLC with the playable character Shang Tsung and the Tanya Funkeira skin.
