Nintendo removes tool that facilitates piracy

nintendo switch 2 piracy

After the developers of Yuzu have announced that they are withdrawing from the project due to a legal problem against the NintendoNow it's also the turn of a famous tool used by unlocked devices.

According to TorrentFreak, a Nintendo ordered the closure of around 30 repositories of the GitHub aimed at shutting down the distribution of tools that were able to evade the console's security devices, facilitating piracy.

One of these tools is Sigpatch-Updaterwhich allowed the user to update the SigPatch files. This made the system ignore the signature check when the games were downloaded digitally

"The need for SigPatches to operate pirated copies of Nintendo video games is widely discussed in groups dedicated to modifying (hacking) the Nintendo Switch console," says the DMCA notice from Nintendo.

With the Nintendo Switch is getting closer and closer to the end of its life, it is somewhat interesting to see this movement on the part of the Nintendo with piracy happening now. Could this be a way of preventing piracy on the company's next console?
