History and Characters

The narrative of this sequel centers on the King of All Cosmos and his surprise at the number of Katamari fans on Earth. He asks the prince, his son, to help fulfill these fans' requests, while we also discover the King's history and his relationship with his own father. In this version, the King's plot is even more in-depth, and new side quests, where you play as the young King, add an interesting link between the story and the gameplay.

Gameplay and Controls

Katamari's controls may seem confusing at first, especially with the chaos unfolding in the background. But the addition of a multiplayer mode allows you to invite friends or rivals for some fun local co-op. Although it's as fun as the original version, the lack of variety in maps and competitive objectives can make the gameplay somewhat repetitive until the story progresses and new maps are unlocked.

Game modes and customization

The remaster doesn't stop there, bringing even more collectibles and game modes. The hunt for aesthetic items and playable NPC cousins continues, but now with extra secrets. The new selfie mode offers players the chance to capture perfect angles of their Katamari characters and the bizarre scenery around them. The addition of this customization feature gives the game a unique layer of experience, as well as providing treasure hunters with something beyond unlockable NPCs and aesthetic costume changes.

Final verdict

Finally, We Love Katamari Reroll + Royal Reverie is an excellent remaster of its original title, bringing new features without losing its essence. With its vibrant visuals and captivating soundtrack, the game remains a must for fans of challenges and secrets to be discovered. The addition of user interface elements that make it easier to navigate the world and the presence of "Royal Reverie" training missions take the game to a higher level than the original. Although there are limitations in the multiplayer and eternal modes, this doesn't detract from the chaotic madness that is Katamari.
