RIDE 5 - Review

Ride 5 Review

Turbocharge your engine and get ready to hit the gas in RIDE 5, the first game made completely for the new generation of consoles by Milestone.

RIDE 5 promises to offer the player an adrenaline-filled and authentic experience, bringing the real feeling of riding a motorcycle at high speed.

The content of RIDE 5

RIDE 5 offers more than 35 track options, combining more than 270 bikes from 20 world-renowned manufacturers such as Kawasaki, Honda, BMW and many others.

It's a great variety to accompany you on your career ascent, where you'll start in your garage, work your way up through the ranks until you reach the coveted position of best driver in the world.

But it's worth noting that this journey is far from easy. You'll come up against opponents who will be more and more skillful and will impose themselves as real obstacles to your reaching the podium.

Realistic dynamic weather is a new feature in RIDE

The realistic dynamic climate arrives in RIDE 5 with the aim of making the competitors even more immersed in all the races and game modes.

The system calculates the track temperature in real time to generate a realistic change of weather during races. So a clear blue sky can easily turn into heavy rain, or even become sunny again.

As well as offering stunning visuals with the technology, you'll also have to deal with unexpected situations that make the experience more realistic.

The sofa experience is also part of the game

Few games adhere to a sofa experience, and RIDE 5 is one of them. You can challenge a friend or family member to a high-speed race. Just lend them a controller and play split-screen.

This is a function much requested by players of different gaming styles, and one that the Milestone team has decided to put into RIDE 5.

It's a considerable factor when it comes to buying a racing game, which in the past was where this kind of experience prevailed.

It's not all smoke

Making an analogy with "not everything is flowers", RIDE 5 gives you the real feeling of driving a real racing bike. It puts you through incredible visuals and on tracks with increasingly challenging competitors.

From the first acceleration to the final straight, every race is like a great learning experience. From learning the layout to the best way to overcome the limitations of your current equipment.

But I still feel that something is missing in RIDE 5. I'm not a motorcycle racing aficionado, but I do love a good racing game. And I feel like there's no real reason for me to be playing a lot of races.

The events are divided into four blocks (plus four extra blocks) where inside there are numerous championships, and within the championships, some races.

However, there's no real feeling that you're finally the real champion of that competition. Although you now have a narrator who tells you some stories and explains what your challenges will be, there's really nothing that conveys the journey of a career.

Like a racing game, both in technical terms and in gameplay, RIDE 5 is a show apart. But I definitely missed something that would make someone who isn't a motorcycle aficionado, but likes a good journey (especially in sports games), get stuck into the game.

Furthermore, RIDE 5 is a spectacular motorcycle simulator. The gameplay, the visuals and, above all, the sound, are all top notch. Especially if you're playing with a DualSense, where just making good use of its features makes you feel like you're on a real racetrack.

In a nutshell, RIDE 5 arrives on August 24th for PC, PlayStation 5 e Xbox Series. This review was provided by a review key from Milestone.
