Developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, the studio behind the acclaimed franchise Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble is the latest exclusive from SEGA to Nintendo Switch.

Find out below whether or not it's worth playing Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble in our review, which was only possible thanks to the support of SEGA by sending us a review key for the game.

A simple narrative that gives context to the fun stages

Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble doesn't have an overdeveloped story with countless cutscenes; quite the opposite, the story only serves as a backdrop to the 200 unpublished stages present in the game.

AiAi and his friends are on a journey in search of seven mysterious artifacts that can locate the Legendary Banana. To do this, you have to venture through challenging and creative levels.

Low learning curve and just the right amount of challenge

In just a few minutes you'll see that nothing is as difficult as it seems. Starting with the fact that the times are short, so you won't get tired of repeating it more than once.

An intuitive and to-the-point tutorial is also offered to players right from the start, but although there is one, the game is extremely "minimalist" and doesn't use many buttons.

Considering that the stages gradually demonstrate how challenging they can be, it's clear that players won't have much trouble progressing.

Local multiplayer, online and customization

In addition to the Campaign Mode, which can be completed in a few hours, there is also an online multiplayer mode for up to 16 players, or the coveted local multiplayer, which allows up to 4 players.

All this while you unlock more than 300 customization items for your character, so you can look even more stylish during online matches or even in the campaign.

Is Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble worth playing?

This is the section that many have been waiting for, after all, there's nothing better than a verdict. Well, we need to point out that there are different tastes and needs for each player.

If you're looking for a game that serves as a pastime, but at the same time makes you think at times, or challenges you, SMB:BR is the game for you. But there's a catch: the price is much higher than what the game actually offers.

We have a fun backdrop, nice visuals and a very didactic and responsive gameplay, not to mention a wide range of stages. But even so, R$ 264.90 is a bit steep when you consider that it's a deliberately simple game.

Everything will depend on your budget and your desire to play it. Do we recommend it? Yes, it's an excellent game and every minute spent will add to the fun factor and you won't even see the time go by.

Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble is now available for Nintendo Switch.
