Take-Two breaks silence on GTA 6 for PC

During a recent interview at the TD Cowen conference, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, which owns Rockstar Games, discussed the decision not to announce the PC version of the eagerly awaited Grand Theft Auto 6 yet. The first trailer for the game was released in December, confirming a 2025 release for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.

Asked about the possibility of a future announcement for PC, Zelnick explained that the lack of an announcement is not definitive, suggesting that the situation could change over time. "The lack of an announcement is not definitive," he said. "It may be that it will be announced at a later date, or perhaps it will remain unannounced. Nothing is definitive."

Zelnick also pointed out that Rockstar has a pattern of behavior regarding release platforms that has been observed before. The company usually releases its games first for consoles and only later for PC, as was the case with Grand Theft Auto 4, Grand Theft Auto 5, LA Noire and Red Dead Redemption 2. He reinforces that Rockstar's strategy is to be where the consumers are, adapting its releases to the most relevant platforms over time.

Take-Two also recently updated its financial projections, specifying that Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled for release in the fall of 2025. Additionally, it was shared that Grand Theft Auto 5 reached the 1 billion dollar mark in retail sales faster than any other release in the entertainment sector, with around 200 million units sold since its launch in 2013.

Although the original Red Dead Redemption has not yet been released for PC, which disappoints some fans even 14 years after its original release, the hope that it will still make it to this platform remains among fans of the series.

So, although the announcement of Grand Theft Auto 6 for PC has not yet been made, Rockstar's history suggests that PC gamers may be in for some good news in the future. The company's strategy clearly includes serving gamers on all viable platforms, aligning itself with the expectations of its consumers globally.
