Xbox closes Redfall and Hi-Fi RUSH studio

xbox closes studios

This Tuesday's bombshell was initially reported by journalist Jason Schreier in a post on the X social network saying that Microsoft was about to announce the closure of the Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin studios:

Xbox is closing Arkane Austin, Tango Gameworks and two other studios. News coming to Bloomberg soon

We're waiting for more information on the other two studios, but there are rumors circulating that Alpha Dogs and Roundhouse are Bethesda support studios.

The closure of the studios has already been confirmed on the social networks of Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin.

Today it was announced that Tango Gameworks will close down.
Thank you to everyone who has explored the worlds we have created.
Hi-Fi RUSH along with Tango's previous titles will continue to be available and playable on all available platforms.

For its part, Arkane Austin also published a statement announcing the closure of its activities:

Today it was announced that Arkane Austin will be closed and development will not continue on Redfall.
To everyone who has supported the work of our Austin studio over the years, thank you. Thank you for spending time in our worlds and making them your own.
Arkane Lyon will continue its focus on immersive experiences where they are hard at work on their next project.
Redfall players who purchased the Hero Pass as part of the Bite Back premium edition or the Bite Back premium upgrade will be eligible to receive the upgrade value.
Although there will be no more updates, the Redfall servers will remain online for players to enjoy.

Following Microsoft's purchase of Activision Blizzard, the tech giant has been making some financial maneuvers in order to reduce costs, also at a time when the games market is going through one of its worst phases with a series of layoffs in various sectors.

Many fans were surprised by the closure of Hi-Fi studio RUSH, especially after the sudden success of the game. It's now up to us to follow the fate of some of the developers responsible for the title and hope that they can get back on the market as soon as possible.

My favorite games are visual novels.
