Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 promises to revolutionize the iconic Zombies mode that has captivated players around the world. The new edition of the series, which will be released on October 25, 2024, features an engaging narrative and new maps that challenge fans to face hordes of the undead in the dreaded Dark Aether.

The story continues the saga of the Requiem team, which after years of fighting zombie outbreaks around the globe, finds its members imprisoned in a remote outpost in the Philippine Sea. The plot delves into the motivations and objectives of Edward Richtofen, the Project Director, revealing a web of intrigue and betrayal.

See below for all the details of Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies:

Terminus Map Overview: Escape from Outpost, Philippine Sea

Located in the Philippine Sea is the remote Terminus Island complex. Historical data indicates a pre-World War II coal mining operator on the island, abandoned around 1932. Ten years later, Terminus became a US forward naval base. In 1984, Project Janus took control of the island, building a laboratory in the underground mining caverns.

After Peck and Maya break the Requiem team out of their prison cells, they soon discover that this is a Project Janus bio-research station. Its controllers are Peck and Strauss and, for a richer story experience, you'll want to choose your team of Operators from Grigori Weaver, Elizabeth Grey, Mackenzie 'Mac' Carver and Maya Aguinaldo - the dedicated team of characters who appear in the plot of Black Ops 6 Zombies.

Get ready to play this round-based Zombies map at the launch of the Black Ops 6 on October 25, along with the Liberty Falls map.

Overview of Liberty Falls: Almost Hell, West Virginia

Footage of a raid on a once picturesque and now invaded West Virginia town also gives you the first glimpse of the second launch map. Apparently the epicenter of a Dark Aether outbreak, chaos is spreading through Liberty Falls, with much of the local population succumbing to the results of a simultaneous second dimensional breach.

Find out more about Liberty Falls in Call of Duty: NEXT on August 28.

The essence of Call of Duty Black Ops 6 ZOMBIES

Black Ops 6 Zombies is focused on creating the best and most rewarding round-by-round Zombies experience ever made by Treyarch. Many of the gameplay systems you'll read about will be familiar to veteran Zombies players, while others have been developed to increase the Zombies community and help novice players more easily explore the Main Mission.

At its most basic level, one of the first maps of Black Ops 6 Round-Based Zombies involves you (and optionally up to three additional teammates) exploring and eventually escaping from a maximum security prison complex called Terminus Island, with waves (or "rounds") of undead enemies to dispatch as you discover and complete objectives.

If you dig a little deeper, you'll realize that your chances of survival are much greater if you avoid the hordes of corpses while lining up your deadly blows and managing the game's main currencies: Essence and Salvage.

In Black Ops 6 ZombiesThe Essence takes the form of points that you quickly accumulate by killing zombies and occasionally appears as vials of Dark Aether Essence that sometimes fall from stronger enemies. You use the Essence in the following ways:

  • To access goal-related devices (in Terminus, these are devices that power the station) to advance your progress;
  • To unlock doors, some of which allow you to pay half the cost of unlocking by sharing the Essence value with a teammate for the first time in Black Ops;
  • Summon a tactical raft for underwater expeditions;
  • Buy Perk-a-Colas from benefit machines (to add specific advantages to your Operator, through a single machine or a Der Wunderfizz that sells all the Perk Cans on a given map);
  • To buy upgrades for the weapons currently used in the punch machine that increase the weapon's power and ammunition reserves, as well as occasionally offering unexpected effects;
  • To buy ammunition at the ammunition depots;
  • To buy an additional weapon with a rarity rating on a wall weapon
  • To improve the additional armor on a wall weapon (Level II, Level III);
  • To buy a random weapon with a rarity rating in a mysterious box and much more;
  • To start a special test challenge.

The other main form of "currency" is salvage, small piles of garbage with a green outline, randomly found on fallen enemies. In a quality of life enhancement, players now only need to manage one type of salvage, instead of collecting normal, high-grade salvage in the Black Ops Cold War.

Now, saves are also specific to each player, so you won't have to worry about your teammates picking up your saves before you do.

You can use saving in the following ways:

  • To access an Ammo Mod and apply a special elemental power to your current weapon via an Armory Machine;
  • To improve the rarity level of your weapon so that it does more damage, via an armory machine;
  • To build specific tactical equipment using a craft table;
  • To build specific lethal equipment using a crafting table;
  • Build specific support equipment using a creation table.

The Black Ops 6 Zombies pre-game

Upgrades provide a rich and innovative customization experience, allowing you to invest in research between matches, unlocking upgrades for every advantage, ammunition modification and field upgrade in the game.

Each Advantage, Ammo Modification and Field Enhancement has a research path, accessed in the pre-game menus between matches. The revelations you make during research allow you to unlock the true power of each item, which takes the form of enhancements. You can discover a total of six enhancements per item (three minor and three major).

Round-based systems

At launch, expect to access the following Advantage Machines returning to Terminus Island, each with six Upgrades to unlock and choose from, to further reinforce the following basic effects:

  • Jugger-Nog: Increases maximum life by 100.
  • Quick Revive: Reduces life regeneration delay time by 50%. Reduces the time needed to revive an ally by 50%.
  • Speed Cola: increases the recharge speed and armor replenishment bonus by 30%.
  • Stamin-Up: Increases movement speed.
  • PhD Flopper: Immunity to all self-inflicted damage and status effects. Diving to the prone position triggers an explosion, which increases the higher you fall. Immunity to fall damage when diving to the prone position.
  • Deadshot Daiquiri: Aiming down moves to the enemy's critical location. Increases the enemy's critical damage.
  • Elemental Pop: each bullet fired has a small chance of applying a random Ammo Mod effect.
