During the PlayStation®5 Showcase, SQUARE ENIX® unveiled the launch trailer for FINAL FANTASY XVI, the highly anticipated action RPG and the latest installment in the FINAL FANTASY franchise, which will be released globally on June 22, 2023 for PlayStation5.
"SALVATION" is the trailer that shows players what they can expect in Valisthea next month, depicting the circumstances that the "Bearers", those born with the ability to summon magic at will, must face and revealing the truth behind the "Mother Crystals", a supposed blessing for humanity. The new trailer also shows the first steps of Clive Rosfield, the game's protagonist, as he and his allies fight to take control of their own destiny.
FINAL FANTASY XVI introduces players to a brand new story within the FINAL FANTASY universe, an epic dark fantasy set in the kingdom of Valisthea - a land blessed by the light of the "Mother Crystals", where peace is threatened by the phenomenon known as the "Blight" that threatens to destroy its domains. The fate of this land is decided by the Eikons, powerful and fearsome creatures, and their Dominants, men and women blessed with the ability to summon and control them.
This is the story of Clive Rosfield, a warrior with the title of "First Shield of Rosaria" who has sworn to protect his younger brother Joshua, the Phoenix Dominant, the Eikon of Fire. Before all is said and done, Clive will become embroiled in a great tragedy and swear revenge against the dark Eikon of Ifrit, a mysterious entity that brings calamity upon awakening.
Finally, fans will be able to follow the celebratory broadcast ahead of the release of FINAL FANTASY XVI on Square Enix's official Twitch channel on June 11.
FINAL FANTASY XVI is recommended for ages 16 and up, and will be available for the PlayStation 5 console on June 22, 2023.
